  • CQA

Hello, this is Al Fabrizio, principal of Martin County High School; please read this entire message as it contains important assessment information.

This week marks the beginning of the Martin County School District testing window for Common Quarterly Assessments (CQA) in Algebra 1, Geometry, ELA 9, ELA 10, Us History, Biology, and 11th and 12th grade Reading. Your son or daughter will take his or her exams during a testing window that begins on Wednesday, December 12 and ends on Friday, December 21. Students will be notified by his or her teacher when the assessments will be administered in class.

The CQAs are an assessment for learning and therefore will not be counted as a grade. Please emphasize to your son or daughter that these assessments are one of the most critical assessments they will take the entire school year and even though the results will not be part of their 2nd 9 week grade they need to give their best effort. The assessments your son or daughter will take are based on the standards set out in the course framework and taught in the classroom. Not only are we looking to see where students are proficient, but we are also gathering data on where students need additional support in the learning process.  Teachers will be able to use the data collected to guide instruction and students will also use their data to inform their own learning moving into the Spring semester.

We know by all of us working together your son or daughter will try their best on these assessments therefore allowing their teachers to plan second semester instruction that will pave the way for success on the exams they take this spring! Thank you for your support!
