Eighth Grade Moving Up Recognition
This year’s Stuart Middle School’s Eighth Grade Moving Up Recognition will be held on May 22nd in the school gym. This program will be open to all Stuart Middle School eighth grade students. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 pm with the entrance of the 2019 SMS Eighth Grade Class.
Since this is an awards and recognition ceremony, students are expected to dress in a suitable manner. Attire for boys includes long pants and a dress shirt. Attire for girls includes dressy slacks and a blouse, or a knee-length dress. A shawl or sweater must be worn with a dress that has thin shoulder straps. Strapless dresses and backless shoes are not appropriate for this event. Sneakers and denim material are also not appropriate for this event. Students who arrive dressed inappropriately for this event will not be permitted to participate in the program.
Invitations and tickets for all eighth graders and their family will be distributed during 8th grade lunches starting on May 14 and continuing through May 17. Tickets will also be available in Student Services during regular school hours. Due to restriction of space available, only two tickets per family will be given for admittance. Tickets may be picked up and signed for by a parent or student with proper ID. Any lost tickets will not be replaced and anyone arriving at the door without a ticket will not be admitted.
Students are expected to arrive at 6:00 pm and proceed to their assigned holding rooms so that all eighth graders can enter together. This information will be shared with students during practices. We anticipate that this program will last about one to one and half hours.
