About the Center:
The Environmental Studies Center is operated by the Martin County Public School System. Students in kindergarten through seventh grade and high school marine biology and environmental science classes visit the Center each year to participate in hands-on field investigations. Students explore the St. Lucie Estuary, Indian River Lagoon, Hutchinson Island’s beaches, mangrove swamps and freshwater ponds and wetlands. The Center is home to a wide variety of fish and reptiles, including a loggerhead sea turtle and an alligator named Joey!
