• As principal, I am committed to serving the students, staff, parents, and community. My goal is to support the implementation of outstanding instruction to help increase student achievement and proficiency.

A stingray family is known as a “fever”. I have a fever for high expectations, collaboration, and a positive school culture. My fever will be seen throughout my work this school year.

I am a graduate of Martin County High School and have resided in Stuart since 1985. I graduated with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida and continued my education at Florida Atlantic University where I received two masters degrees in Reading and Educational Leadership.

I taught for 14 years at J.D. Parker School of Science, Math, and Technology where I was named the Sallie Mae Outstanding New Teacher of the Year for the Martin County School District in 1998, Teacher of the Year in 2003, and the “I Make a Difference” Teacher in 2003. I have been an administrator at Port Salerno Elementary for the past 6 years and I look forward to many great years as a STINGRAY!

  • Education has always been my passion. Originally from North Florida, I grew up in a family of educators. I knew as early as elementary school that I was destined to become an educator. After graduating from the University of Florida in 1996 with a Master's degree in Education, I began my teaching career in Interlachen, Florida. Interlachen Elementary School, a national blue ribbon school, had a high ELL population. I taught fifth grade for two years before getting married and relocating to Martin County. I spent the next seven years teaching fifth grade at SeaWind Elementary. During the 2004-2005 school year I became SeaWind's Teacher of the Year. In 2005, I traveled to China to adopt my daughter and took some time to become a stay at home mom. I returned to the Martin County School District in 2009 in a different role as a literacy coach until 2016. As a literacy coach I provided research, support, coaching, and modeling of lessons to teachers across grades K-5 in order to ensure the most effective, research-based literacy strategies are employed to reach all diverse learners. I completed a second Master's Degree in Educational Leadership in 2014. I am thrilled to join the Port Salerno Elementary family and look forward to working collaboratively with staff, parents, students, and community members.
