District, MCEA Reach Agreement on Instructional Contract

On Monday, March 29, 2021, the Martin County School District came to an agreement with the Martin County Education Association regarding this year's instructional contract. The agreement will allow the District to increase the starting teacher salary in Martin County to a base of $45,200. In addition, the District has committed $861,143 in funding from the operating budget to provide increases for all teachers and ease compression associated with raising the minimum teacher salary in accordance with House Bill 641.

"I am extremely proud of our negotiating teams for their commitment to collaboration throughout the process," Superintendent John D. Millay shared. "We are very fortunate in Martin County, as our teachers are the most talented and dedicated professionals you'll find anywhere in the world. I am pleased that we were able to reach a solution that allows us to follow the requirements of House Bill 641 and also provide increases to our veteran teachers."

All salary adjustments will be retroactive to July 1, 2020.
