School Safety/Security…Wearing Lanyards and ID’s

In an effort to keep the safety and security at a highest level for our students, faculty, and staff, we are reminding our parents that we are requiring all of our students to wear a Martin County High School lanyard and school ID at all times while on campus.

Having students wear their school lanyards and IDs allows us to identify students at a glance and thus enables us recognize any person who should not be on our campus.  The expectation is that the lanyard and ID will be worn and is visible. It is not acceptable to just have them in one’s possession.

In an effort to provide any student who may have lost a lanyard or ID the opportunity to obtain one, students will be able to purchase a lanyard for $1 and an ID card for $2 from March 18 to March 22.

Students who on multiple occasions do not have or not wearing their lanyard and/or ID while on campus may receive consequences such as detention, loss of the privilege of attending prom or other school events, and/or loss of having the privilege of parking on school campus.  Students who comply with the wearing of their lanyard and ID will be rewarded by the potential of being given a free parking space, prom tickets, passes to athletic events or plays, and/or gift cards.

As always the safety of our students is our number one priority. We ask that you please take a moment to talk to your son or daughter about the importance of wearing their lanyard and ID while on our campus at all times…as this….is a key campus security measure.
