FAQ

Curriculum FAQs

How can I view STAR reading and math progress monitoring results for K-2 students?

Full reports are available in Focus 1-3 weeks after the assessment. To receive preliminary reports right after tests are taken, follow these directions BEFORE the test day:

Open your child's Classlink account. Click the MCSDReads app icon, the same one used for AR reading quizzes. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click to enter your email to receive reports. Check boxes according to your interests (we recommend unchecking the Accelerated Reader quiz reports to limit the amount of emails you receive).

How can I view PM3 assessment results for 3-5th graders?

Full reports will be available in Focus 1-3 weeks after the assessment (except for Writing results, which are viewable in July). To view a score right after the test is taken, follow these directions:

Click the Florida Assessments icon in Focus above the gradebook. Download the DETAILED report for the PM2 test. Save the PDF, and find the comparative data page (usually page 4) to view a graph of the 3 scores from PM1, PM2, and PM3.

Library and Technology FAQs

How do I use Classlink on an iPad?

First, download the app called ClassLink LaunchPad (not ClassLink Remote). Next, use the search bar at the top, not the login choices at the bottom of the screen.  In that box, type Citrus Grove.  There are two, choose the one that includes Martin SD in its name.  After that, a student's 4300 number and password will work to login to their school Classlink account.

Do CGE students receive a laptop?

Laptops are provided to all students from Kindergarten - 5th grade.
K - 2nd graders use devices in class only.
3rd - 5th graders receive a laptop for home and school academic use. Students/families are responsible for the device's safe-keeping, maintenance including charging, and transport to/from CGE on all school days. Damage to a device, and the fees associated with repair, are the responsibility of the family.

What do we do if our laptop breaks?

District laptops are brought to the Media Center for service. Afterward, check the student's Focus account for information about fees.

How do I load an MCSDReads quiz that's asking for a password?

AR quizzes in the MCSDReads program have interest levels that fit the content of the quiz. Depending on your child's grade, a quiz may require a password before it will load. That password can only be typed in by a teacher or the library staff. These quizzes must be started at school, where the password can be provided. Once a quiz is started, the program can be exited and the quiz can be finished at home.

How can I find books that have quizzes in AR?

Quizzes can be searched inside the MCSDReads program, but we find that the advanced search feature on this website is easier: arbookfind.com . The ATOS level is similar to a student's grade; for example, typing in 2 and 2.5 will generate a list that 2nd graders will likely be successful with at the beginning of the year. Still having trouble? Consider opening a parent library card in the Media Center! We will open for parents on Fridays after dismissal with advance notice. Why am I not getting MCSD text messages?

First try to add yourself to the alert list by typing the word Start to 98900.

Next, check your blocked contact list and make sure 98900 is not on it.

Finally, call the school office and make sure your contact list phone number is correct.
