FDLRS (Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources) is an organization supported by the FLDOE to provide free professional development to educators. When you click on the link below you will be able to view their course offerings and create an account. These courses must be submitted into Frontline as out of district in-service credit.

SWD (Teaching Students with Disabilities)

Every educator must complete the 20-point renewal requirement of teaching students with disabilities for every renewal period. Below is a list of SWD courses that can be taken through the FDLRS-BEESS Portal.

  • FDLRS will not allow you to take a course you previously completed.

  • A School Administrator must sign-off on any required course activities.

Examples of SWD course titles:

  • Courses with ESE or Special Education prefixes (excludes Gifted courses)

  • Introduction to ESE

  • Nature and Needs of [various disabilities: EH, MH, SLD, ASD, etc]

  • Teaching Students with Disabilities

  • Educating the Learning Disabled (or any other disability)

  • Assessment in Exceptional Education

  • Assessing Students with Disabilities

  • The Special Education Curriculum

  • Varying Exceptionalities

  • Individualized Instruction for Exceptional Students

  • Management Strategies for Students with Disabilities

If you pass the ESE subject area exam and add the subject to your certificate during your certificate's validity period, then it can count as your SWD renewal credit. Notify the HR Dept. that you will use the exam as your SWD credit.
