Fourth graders at Bessey Creek Elementary School recently had the opportunity to meet with local government and community leaders as part of their government unit.
The visit gave students a deeper understanding of how local agencies serve the community, work together during natural disasters, and support one another when it matters most.
Experiences like this help students connect classroom lessons to the world around them and inspire the next generation of community leaders.
Special thanks to Martin County Commissioner Ed Ciampi, Martin County Fire Rescue’s Joshua Jenkins, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, and Florida Power & Light for taking the time to connect with students and bring these lessons to life.
