A simple hello has become an annual tradition at Felix A. Williams Elementary School, which recently marked its 11th year participating in Start With Hello Week, Sept. 28-Oct. 2.
Start With Hello is a national initiative from Sandy Hook Promise that encourages students to recognize when someone may feel left out, reach out, and help others feel welcome. Throughout the week, FAWE students and staff put those lessons into action through activities focused on kindness, inclusion, and connection.
The week ended on a high note with a morning welcome from the Jensen Beach High School Band and Student Government Association. Music filled the campus as students were greeted with smiles, pom-poms and plenty of high-fives.
For 11 years, the tradition has helped FAWE students see how something as simple as saying hello can help a classmate feel seen, included, and part of their school community.
