Schools Celebrate Constitution Week

The Martin County School District is proud to celebrate Constitution Week, which is observed annually from September 17 to September 23.   This year, we are celebrating the 234th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution.  In accordance with United States Public Law, students in grades K-12 learn about the U.S. Constitution on Constitution Day (September 17).  Many schools will participate in a variety of activities throughout the week that have been designed to enhance students' understanding of and appreciation for our nation's founding document:

  • In partnership with the Martin County Bar Association, ten schools will host practicing attorneys and sitting judges as guest speakers for students.
  • As a cross-curricular project, Martin County High School art students participated in a competition to have their artwork selected for a special edition of the District's "Word of the Week" initiative, which places a different vocabulary word on the desktop of all District-issued devices each week.  Vanessa Martinez-Hernandez's winning artwork is shown below.  Her art teacher is Ms. Amanda Jones

Thank you to the Martin County Bar Association for helping bring the U.S. Constitution to life for our students this school year:  Judge Alan O. Forst (4th District Court of Appeals); Judge Kathleen H. Roberts (19th Judicial Circuit Court) and Adam G. Schwartz, Esq. (Fox McCluskey Law).
