Fifth-grade students from across the Martin County School District came together on April 26, 2025, for a day of competition and collaboration during the 3rd Annual Math Olympics, hosted at Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School.
Representing all 12 District-operated elementary schools, students tested their math skills in four challenging rounds: Sprint, Target, Team, and Ciphering (Speed Math). All rounds were aligned with Florida’s B.E.S.T. standards and modeled after the nationally recognized MATHCOUNTS competition for middle school students.
By introducing this format at the elementary level, the District aims to foster a strong foundation for students interested in competitive mathematics. The event not only nurtures a love of math at an early age but also prepares students for future participation in events like the Treasure Coast Regional MATHCOUNTS, where MCSD students have consistently earned top honors.
A special congratulations to the following schools who earned the top three spots at the end of the competition:
First Place: Felix A. Williams Elementary School
Second Place: Palm City Elementary School
Third Place: J.D. Parker Elementary School
We are proud of all the students who participated in this year’s event and grateful for their coaches' guidance. Their enthusiasm, determination, and teamwork exemplify the spirit of academic excellence in the Martin County School District! We look forward to watching these young math scholars continue to grow and succeed as they transition into middle school.
