JBE Walk Bike Roll

Jensen Beach Elementary School students, staff, and families took to the sidewalks and bike paths for Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day on October 8, 2025, celebrating safe and active ways to get to school while promoting environmental stewardship.

The event also highlighted the school’s success in securing a Safe Routes to School grant through the Florida Department of Transportation. The grant will fund new sidewalks on South Street and nearby neighborhoods, making it safer for students who walk or bike to school and supporting families in feeder patterns who walk to bus stops for Stuart Middle and Jensen Beach High School.

Collaboration between JBE staff and Martin County Public Works ensured the grant application and logistics ran smoothly, while county engineers and staff handled design and cost considerations. Once complete, the sidewalks are expected to encourage more students to bike or walk to school.

Walk, Bike & Roll Day also provided a hands-on learning opportunity. The JBE Eco Action Team will encourage more students to walk, bike, or roll to school while tracking traffic patterns—giving students a chance to collect and analyze real-world data.

As the proud Center for Environmental Stewardship in Martin County’s A-rated District, Jensen Beach Elementary shows that every step, pedal, and push can make a difference.
