The Martin County School District is proud to participate in Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! from January 26-30, 2026. This year’s theme, “Read, White and Blue: Celebrating 250 Chapters of America,” encourages students to explore reading, writing, and America’s 250-year story through hands-on, creative, and collaborative literacy activities.
Across the District, students are engaging in challenges, competitions, and interactive learning that motivate consistent reading while connecting literacy to history, civics, STEAM, and the arts. Media centers will serve as hubs for American literature, informational texts, and student work, while teachers and families support learning at school and home.
Examples of school activities this week include:
J.D. Parker Elementary: Each grade level will research a different important time in America’s History and create a schoolwide mural.
Hobe Sound Elementary: Parent Literacy Night with six learning sessions and a shared dinner on January 28.
Martin County High School: First-ever Family Literacy Night on January 29 with storytelling, GALE resources, pop-up history museum, and book displays.
Stuart Middle School: Pop-up mini book fair, Barnes & Noble community event with music, and “Caught Reading” recognition.
