J.D. Parker Elementary School took another step in expanding its School of STEAM and Aerospace programming with its first National Aviation Day assembly on Aug. 19.
The schoolโs aerospace focus is designed to introduce students to new interests and career possibilities at an early age. Through classroom learning, special events, and community partnerships, students can explore the many roles connected to aviation and aerospace, from flying and engineering to building and maintaining aircraft.
During the assembly, local aviation professionals gave students a closer look at the industry and answered their questions. Superintendent Michael Maine, who also holds a pilot license, encouraged the Rockets to dream big, work hard, and believe in what they can achieve.
School leaders said the assembly was the first of many as J.D. Parker continues expanding its STEAM and aerospace focus and building partnerships within the community.
