On Friday, September 12, Martin County High School proudly joined schools across the country in celebrating AVID Day—a day dedicated to honoring the power of education, the commitment of our educators, and the resilience of our students.
What is AVID Day?
AVID Day is more than a celebration—it’s a spotlight on the educators who help close the opportunity gap and the students who thrive because of their support.
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) equips students with the tools and strategies they need to succeed—not just in school, but in life.
AVID students consistently graduate at higher rates, attend college in greater numbers, and develop essential skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership.
💬 Because of AVID, I...
To mark the occasion, every AVID student at MCHS shared their "why" by completing the prompt:
"Because of AVID, I..."
These powerful reflections showcased the personal growth, academic confidence, and future goals of our Tigers.
💙 Blue for Success & WICOR in Action
Students dressed in college tees to represent success and unity, while engaging in AVID’s core strategies known as WICOR:

📖 Reading
These strategies weren’t just used today—they’re part of our everyday learning culture at MCHS.
