The Quest for School Breakfast

The National School Breakfast Week Campaign Encourages Students to Try School Breakfast the March 2–6, 2026.

Martin County High School is gearing up for an exciting celebration of National School Breakfast Week (NSBW), taking place March 2–6, 2026. This year’s adventure-packed theme, “The Quest for School Breakfast,” invites students to discover the power of a nutritious start to their day—and encourages families to join the journey.

Busy mornings can make it difficult for families to fit in a balanced breakfast at home. MCHS’s School Food & Nutrition Services team is tackling that challenge head-on by offering wholesome, ready-to-go breakfast options every school day. Students can enjoy fresh fruit, whole grains, and low-fat or fat-free milk—delicious choices that help fuel their focus, energy, and academic success.

Breakfast: The First Step in Every Student’s Quest for Success

Research continues to highlight the far-reaching benefits of eating breakfast at school. Studies show that students who start their day with a healthy morning meal are more likely to:

  • Reach higher levels of achievement in reading and math

  • Score higher on standardized tests

  • Demonstrate improved concentration and memory

  • Stay alert and engaged in the classroom

  • Maintain a healthy weight

“A healthy breakfast at the start of the day is a great way to ensure students are nourished and ready to learn,” said Amy Sluder, Cafeteria Manager. “National School Breakfast Week helps us educate parents and students about all the nutritious and delicious choices we offer.”

About National School Breakfast Week

Established in 1989, National School Breakfast Week shines a spotlight on the importance and availability of the School Breakfast Program—a federally assisted initiative that has supported students in public, nonprofit private schools, and residential child‑care institutions since 1975. Today, the program remains a vital resource in ensuring that every child has access to the nutrition they need to succeed.

As MCHS celebrates “The Quest for School Breakfast,” families are invited to join the mission: help students fuel up, focus up, and start each school day ready for success.
