Martin County High School is proud to announce that Sueanna (Jasmine) Doris‑Capra has earned national honors in the 2026 National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, receiving both a Gold Medal and the distinguished American Vision Award—one of the highest accolades bestowed by the program.
The American Vision Award recognizes the most exceptional works submitted in each region, highlighting pieces that demonstrate outstanding originality, technical mastery, and a compelling personal artistic voice. Only a very small number of student works are selected for this elite distinction.
The 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards drew submissions from more than 110,000 students, who entered over 335,000 works of art and writing across the country. Jasmine’s work was chosen by leading professionals in the visual and literary arts, placing her among the top young artists in the nation.
As a National Medalist, Jasmine now joins an impressive legacy of creators who were recognized early in their careers through the Scholastic Awards—among them Andy Warhol, Stephen King, Amanda Gorman, and many other notable figures in the arts and literature. Her award‑winning work will be featured in the program’s national online galleries and published in the 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Yearbook, which highlights the nation’s most accomplished student artists.
In honor of this achievement, Jasmine and her photography teacher, Ms. Laura Dervin, have been invited to attend the National Scholastic Ceremony at Carnegie Hall on June 10 in New York City. This celebration brings together students, educators, and arts professionals from across the country to recognize exceptional creative achievement.
This national recognition is a testament not only to Jasmine’s artistic talent, but also to her dedication, creativity, and commitment to developing her craft. Martin County High School proudly celebrates her achievement and looks forward to witnessing her continued success.
Congratulations, Jasmine!
