The sun was shining, the water sparkling, and the creativity was flowing at the annual Martin County School District Cardboard Boat Race, held Saturday, May 17, at Sailfish Splash Waterpark.
With 18 handmade vessels crafted entirely from cardboard, duct tape, and student imagination, elementary school students and their families came ready to race and win trophies (and more duct tape!).
This year’s participating schools included Palm City Elementary School, Citrus Grove Elementary School, and Crystal Lake Elementary School, with students, staff, and even a School Resource Officer (SRO) taking on the challenge. Boats were judged on speed, design, creativity, and resilience in the water.
Congratulations to our winners:
Overall Winner: Crystal Lake Elementary School
