CBS 12 Highlights Ms. Patty Morris

After four decades of dedicated service to the Martin County School District, Pinewood Elementary Assistant Principal Patty Morris is retiring, and CBS 12 News highlighted her legacy of joy, heart, and hugs in their Teacher Feature series.

Ms. Morris began her career with the District in 1985, serving in a variety of roles across elementary, middle, and high schools. From teacher and reading coach to soccer coach and assistant principal, she’s impacted generations of students with her passion for education and commitment to building meaningful relationships.

For the past nine years, Ms. Morris has been a beloved fixture at Pinewood Elementary. Known for her morning “Hug Corner,” festive costumes, and larger-than-life “Elf on the Shelf” appearances, she brought smiles and warmth to every child she encountered—especially her “babies,” the kindergarten students she greeted each day.

Her dedication to student success and her ability to make every child feel seen have made a lasting difference in the lives of many. As she begins her next chapter, she leaves behind a strong foundation of care, creativity, and community spirit.

Congratulations, Ms. Morris, on your well-earned retirement, and thank you for 40 incredible years of service!
