As an Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) school, Port Salerno Elementary School students learn at an early age what it means to be college and career-ready.
Through the AVID program, students learn how to visualize their future through opportunity knowledge, or in other words researching by reading, listening, or experiencing.
Fifth-grade PSE students recently visited Indian River State College's Chastain Campus for a fun and educational AVID field trip to increase their opportunity knowledge about the college courses or programs available for their dream careers.
This visit opened their eyes to the educational and career opportunities that are at their disposal right in their backyard.
