Port Salerno Elementary School welcomed educators from across Florida and the nation for its inaugural National AVID Showcase, becoming the first school in the Martin County School District to earn this distinction in the spring of 2025.
Visitors toured classrooms, explored hallways filled with AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) strategies, and observed students engaging in rigorous instruction, critical thinking, and collaborative learning. From the cheer squad’s welcome to students sharing how AVID is shaping their futures, student confidence and leadership were evident throughout the day.
As a nationally recognized AVID Showcase School, Port Salerno Elementary is demonstrating what’s possible when schools commit to helping all students build the skills, confidence, and determination to succeed in middle school, high school, college, and beyond.
