memorial bridge walk

Students, families, employees, and first responders came together on September 11 to honor the lives lost and the heroes of September 11, 2001, during the 2nd Annual Memorial Bridge Walk, hosted by Martin County Fire Rescue and the Police Athletic League.

The event brought the community together in a solemn and inspiring tribute. Participants walked side by side across the veteran's bridge in Palm City, reflecting on the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the courage of the men and women who risked everything to save others.

“This event is an important opportunity for our students and community to remember and reflect,” said Superintendent Michael Maine. “It’s a chance to honor the bravery and sacrifice that define our nation and remind us of the strength we have when we come together.”

Students and families from across the District joined employees and first responders, carrying flags and signs to honor those who were lost. The walk was not only a memorial but also a celebration of the resilience and unity that continue to define the American spirit.

Students who chose to attend the walk were given a wristband that allowed for them to receive an excused absence for the morning.

The 2nd Annual Memorial Bridge Walk continues a meaningful tradition in Martin County, demonstrating that even decades later, the courage and sacrifice of September 11 remain alive in the hearts of our community.

We will never forget.
