Crum chosen as WPBF's Teacher of the Month

The Martin County School District is proud to share that South Fork High School agriculture technology teacher Derrick Crum has been honored as WPBF’s November Teacher of the Month, recognized for his creative and engaging approach to teaching.

Crum’s ag-tech program gives students hands-on experience in areas such as nursery plant propagation, animal science, welding, and emerging technologies like drones and artificial intelligence. His lessons often include real-world advice and practical skills to prepare students for future opportunities.

Known for his innovative teaching style, Crum even brings humor into the classroom, once dressing up as a wizard and jokingly calling himself “Crumbledoor.” His ability to connect with students and tailor lessons to meet their needs earned him a nomination from his own students, leading to the award and a $1,000 donation to his program.

WPBF highlighted Crum’s dedication to helping every student discover their potential and succeed.
