National History Day TOY Nominee

The Martin County School District is proud to announce that Natalie Williams, a dedicated educator at South Fork High School, has been nominated for the 2026 National History Day Teacher of the Year – Senior Division, a prestigious national honor that recognizes excellence in history education and student engagement.

Ms. Williams’ nomination was submitted by the National History Day Coordinator in Florida, highlighting her exceptional leadership, commitment to historical inquiry, and lasting impact on students and the broader school community.

An important part of her work has included helping bring the History Fair back to the Martin County School District in 2022, following a 20-year absence. Since its return, students across the District have had expanded opportunities to participate in historical research, inquiry-based learning, and critical thinking activities.

Currently, Ms. Williams serves as a Financial Literacy Teacher at South Fork High School. She previously taught World History at Murray Middle School, where she was known for her dedication to student success and passion for making history relevant and engaging.

“We are truly honored to have Ms. Williams represent not only the District, but Florida on the national stage,” said Superintendent Michael Maine. “Through the way she inspires curiosity, challenges students to think deeply, and brings history to life, she represents the high expectations and meaningful learning experiences we strive to create for every student.”

Ms. Williams will be honored as a National nominee during the Florida History Day celebration on May 5, 2026, in Tallahassee, alongside other outstanding educators from across the state.

National History Day Teacher of the Year winners will be announced at the National History Day Contest, held June 14–16, 2026, in Maryland.

The Martin County School District congratulates Ms. Williams on this well-deserved recognition and thanks her for her continued commitment to excellence in education and history instruction.
