The Martin County School District’s All In Martin podcast is recognizing Black History Month with a new episode highlighting the local educators whose influence continues to shape schools and the community today.
The episode features Joshua Perry and Dr. Kimberly McHardy, both descendants of longtime Martin County educators whose careers left a lasting mark on generations of students. The conversation reflects on the legacy of Marian Carpenter, a Martin County native who attended the historic Port Salerno's One Room Colored Schoolhouse and later returned to serve the community as an educator and principal, as well as the McHardy family, whose dedication to education spans decades of service in District schools.
Listeners hear how family history, mentorship, and a commitment to students inspired both guests to continue careers in education, carrying forward traditions rooted in service, leadership, and opportunity.
The episode builds on last year’s Black History Month conversation by connecting the District’s past to its present, highlighting how the contributions of educators during earlier eras continue to influence classrooms across Martin County today.
Also featured is the upcoming 2nd Annual Districtwide Black History Month event, which will take place on February 21 at Stuart Middle School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Schools from across the District come together to showcase student artwork and live performances, including singing, readings, and poetry—highlighting both talent and history in a meaningful celebration of culture and community. This year, Georgia Boy and Ethel's Famous Wings food truck will be on site with food available for purchase.
The latest episode of All In Martin is available on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.
