South Fork High School’s band and choir programs are closing out April with an impressive list of accomplishments, showcasing the talent, dedication, and hard work of their student musicians and directors.

The South Fork Jazz Band recently earned Straight Superior ratings at the Lakeside Jazz Festival, one of the top honors a performance group can receive. Final rankings are still pending, but the group has already made the school proud with their exceptional performance and representation.

The success continues with South Fork’s choir program, which delivered strong performances at State Music Performance Assessments (MPA). All three choirs performed at a high level, with Carillon earning a State Superior rating for the fourth consecutive year, a significant achievement that highlights the group’s consistency and excellence.

In addition, eight student acts qualified for State Solo and Ensemble, and all eight returned with Superior ratings. Students Natalia Caraballo, Sabrina Zambrano, Isabella Hodges, and Gavin Adams stood out by performing multiple selections and earning top scores, demonstrating both versatility and musical skill.

Earlier in the month, South Fork Carillon Treble was recognized as a standout ensemble at the District Treble Music Festival. Following that performance, choir students traveled to Chicago, where they participated in a clinic at Northwestern University and explored the city’s rich cultural and musical history.

This remarkable stretch of performances reflects not only the students’ dedication but also the leadership of the program’s directors. Band Director Mr. Hance and Choir Director Reva Rogers, along with Rachel Terlizzi, continue to guide and inspire students to achieve at the highest level.

Despite a busy and successful month, the performances are not over. The South Fork community is invited to support these talented students at their upcoming concerts, all beginning at 7:00 PM:

  • Band Benefit Concert – April 23

  • Band Concert – May 6

  • Choir Concert – May 12

South Fork’s band and choir students continue to represent their school with pride, excellence, and a strong commitment to their craft.
