Martin County students attend State Science &Engineering Fair of Florida

More than 900 aspiring engineers, scientists and mathematicians from across Florida competed in the 68th Annual State Science & Engineering Fair of Florida (SSEF) between April 4-6.

Students had the opportunity to win $1.2 million in awards, prizes, scholarships and internships at SSEF, with the top senior projects advancing to the Intel International Science and Engineering STEM Competition.

Nine Martin County School District students from middle and high schools headed to the fair after competing and winning in the Martin County Regional STEM Fair on January 28.

Two of those students made MCSD history, as this was the first year two students won in their categories! Nira Goyal, a junior at Martin County High School, was the first to bring home a win for MCHS. Her sister Nina Goyal, an eighth grader at Hidden Oaks Middle School, was the first junior student to take home a win, not only for HOMS, but also for the District!

On top of those accomplishments, MCSD students who competed in the SSEF were collectively awarded up to $85,000!

Congratulations to the following students:

  • Nina Goyal, Hidden Oaks Middle School—First Place in Category—Thermo Fischer Science Junior Innovators’ Challenge Nominee
