SeaWind Elementary School will welcome two new members of its leadership team for the 2026-2027 school year following appointments approved by the Martin County School Board on June 16.
Susanna Deutsch will serve as Principal of SeaWind Elementary School, while Dr. Vanessa Muto will serve as Assistant Principal.
Ms. Deutsch most recently served as Principal of Pinewood Elementary School and brings extensive experience in educational leadership, school improvement planning, professional development, curriculum implementation and educator mentorship. While at Pinewood Elementary, Ms. Deutsch oversaw the school’s rebranding to become the School of Communication and helped lead the school to major academic gains.
Prior to joining the Martin County School District, she served in Broward County Public Schools, including as Principal of Peters Elementary School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Florida International University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Florida Atlantic University.
Joining her at SeaWind is Dr. Vanessa Muto, a proud product of the Martin County School District who has spent more than a decade serving students and families throughout the community.
Dr. Muto began her career in education at Pinewood Elementary School, where she worked for a decade before moving into the District Office. There, she served as a Prevention Intervention Program Specialist and as Coordinator of Student Services, supporting schools and students across the District. For the 25-26 school year, Dr. Muto served as the Assistant Principal of J.D. Parker Elementary School.
Dr. Muto earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with a minor in psychology from the University of Massachusetts. She holds a master’s degree in school counseling and psychology from The College of Saint Rose and a doctorate in educational leadership with a concentration in curriculum and instruction from the American College of Education
Together, Ms. Deutsch and Dr. Muto bring a wealth of experience in instructional leadership, student support and community engagement as they prepare to lead SeaWind Elementary School into the new school year.
