The Martin County School District is proud to celebrate strong results for its youngest learners! All 13 District Voluntary Prekindergarten programs earned a designation of “Meets Expectations” or higher from the Florida Department of Education for the 2025-2026 school year.
Four programs earned the state’s highest designation, “Excellent”; six were rated “Above Expectations”; and three earned “Meets Expectations.”
The results also highlight continued growth in the quality of teacher-child interactions. Nine of the District’s 13 VPK programs improved their Classroom Assessment Scoring System, or CLASS, score from the previous school year. The District’s program-wide average increased from approximately 5.23 to 5.38 on a seven-point scale.
The state also considers kindergarten readiness and student learning gains when determining each program’s designation. At Warfield Elementary School, 91% of VPK students demonstrated expected learning gains. Several District VPK programs also had more than 80% of students meet the kindergarten-readiness benchmark.
The achievement reflects the dedication of the District’s Pre-K teachers and staff, along with continued coaching, classroom support, professional learning, and collaboration with the Early Learning Coalition of Indian River, Martin and Okeechobee.
The District is proud to celebrate the students and staff behind these results as they continue building strong foundations for success in kindergarten and beyond. It’s another example of how Martin Means More from the very beginning!
