Convocation Day

For the second year in a row, Superintendent Dr. John D. Millay and the MCSD Professional Development Team hosted the Back-To-School Convocation Day.

The event celebrates the start of the new school year and highlights the reason we work for the Martin County School District: to educate ALL students for success!

The day was filled with excellent performances from some of the District's talented students, including Martin County High School’s drum line and Air Force JROTC, Murray Middle School’s Choir and the Bucket Drummers of Bessey Creek Elementary.

MCSD team members also left the event inspired by a few amazing motivational speakers, all of whom are connected with the district. Logan Jordan (JBHS Senior) and Jose Francisco (SFHS Class of 2022) shared the profound and positive impact that MCSD faculty and staff have had on their lives, effectively reminding each team member why they chose this incredible, one-of-a-kind profession. Assistant Principal Jaime Thompson (SFHS) talked about how pebbles thrown from a few of her teachers growing up changed her life. She also talked about the importance of learning a student's educational DNA. Dr. Jim Van Allan motivated staff by encouraging everyone to live with purpose and love others.

"Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects.”-- Dalai Lama

"Remember that you have the opportunity every day to be part of #TheRippleEffect that makes a difference in each child’s life."-- Dr. John D. Millay.
