An individual seeking to pursue leadership opportunities within the district must have at least three (3) years of classroom instruction experience.

As educators become more established within their school's community, they are encouraged to seek out leadership opportunities that expand outside of their role.

In order to continue towards a career in leadership in Martin County Schools, individuals will need to complete a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership.

As aspiring leaders close in on finishing their coursework and leadership certification requirements, they may apply for the Aspiring Assistant Principal Academy (AAPA).

Individuals must complete their Educational Leadership education and pass the FELE before the AAPA program completion.

Individuals will then need to add the Educational Leadership Certification to their Florida certificate.

Individuals who meet all these requirements will enter the Martin County School District's Assistant Principal Pool.

Once hired as an Assistant Principal, the individual will continue to grow as they continue their professional learning journey.

After three years as an Assistant Principal, individuals are able to apply for the Aspiring Principal Academy.

Throughout the course of the Aspiring Principal Academy, leaders will work within their cohort and individually to complete professional learning and individual-based change projects.

Individuals who successfully complete the APA will earn School Principal certification and be entered in the to MCSD Principal Pool.

Once hired as a Principal, the individual will continue to grow professionally as they lead others and continue their own personal growth.
