Yale Educator of the Year for 2022, Ms. Kimberly Ballard

A South Fork High School English Teacher got the surprise of her educational career in September of 2023.

That's when Ms. Kimberly Ballard learned from one of her former students she received the 2022 Yale Educator of the Year Award.

Kyle Ramos, an SFHS alum and the 21-22 School Board Student Representative, nominated Ms. Ballard for the award shortly after he was accepted to Yale University.

“In the classroom during my time with Ms. Ballard, she taught us to find our narrative voice and explore global issues, and tackle societal challenges through the texts we read and the essays we wrote," Kyle shared about why he nominated Ms. Ballard.

Out of hundreds of nominees from across the world, Ms. Ballard was selected as an award winner. She was the only teacher in Florida to be awarded this esteemed recognition, which is well deserved!

Congratulations, Ms. Ballard!
