Superintendent Michael Maine will recommend Ms. Deborah Riley for appointment as the new director of student services during an upcoming meeting of the Martin County School Board.
A highly respected and student-centered leader, Mrs. Riley brings 29 years of experience in public education to her new role. Her career includes a wide range of instructional and leadership positions, most recently serving as an ESE Instructional Coach for the district. She has also held roles as a principal, assistant principal, reading coach, and classroom teacher.
Mrs. Riley is known for her visionary leadership, collaborative spirit, and deep commitment to student achievement. Throughout her career, she has focused on using data to drive instruction and fostering partnerships between schools and families. Her experience leading Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), supervising Exceptional Student Education (ESE) programs, and guiding instructional practices has prepared her well to serve the students and schools of Martin County in this critical district-level role.
Mrs. Riley holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Special Education from Florida Southern College. She also maintains multiple Florida Department of Education certifications, including School Principal (All Levels), Elementary Education, Educational Media Specialist, and endorsements in Reading and ESOL.
As Director of Student Services, Mrs. Riley will oversee a variety of programs and services that support students, including mental health initiatives, counseling services, attendance, behavior intervention, and compliance with federal and state regulations related to student welfare.
