The Martin County School District (MCSD) is continuing its inaugural series of STEM Center Field Experiences at the S.P.A.M. Robotics Center, located within the District Office. Throughout the course of the school year, students will have the opportunity to explore robotics, engineering, and STEM career pathways through this hands-on learning experience.
The STEM Center Field Experience offers students an engaging introduction to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics by connecting classroom concepts to real-world applications. Modeled after the District’s longstanding Environmental Studies Center field experiences, this new initiative immerses students in interactive activities, robotics challenges, and career exploration modules that promote curiosity and critical thinking.
“The STEM Center Field Experience represents an exciting step forward in our mission to provide authentic, career-connected learning opportunities for all students,” said Superintendent Michael Maine. “Through this program, we are giving students the chance to apply classroom concepts in hands-on settings that ignite curiosity and build the critical skills needed for future success.”
Each visit is supported by pre-learning classroom lessons, ensuring students are prepared to make meaningful connections between what they’ve learned in school and what they experience in the lab. During the field trip, students engage in robotics demonstrations, engineering design challenges, and STEM career exploration sessions led by District staff and community partners.
The STEM Center Field Experience is part of MCSD’s broader effort to expand experiential learning opportunities and strengthen future-ready learning across all grade levels. A total of eight field trips are planned for the 2025–2026 school year, giving students throughout the District the opportunity to explore the exciting world of STEM.
