BCE Kindergarten Transportation Day

A long-standing tradition at Bessey Creek Elementary School continues to turn classroom learning into a memorable experience for the school’s youngest students.

Kindergarten Transportation Day, held annually since 1996, marks the culmination of a unit focused on different modes of transportation. Throughout the unit, students work on foundational academic skills, including writing complete sentences, sounding out words and expressing ideas through both writing and art.

The event gives families an opportunity to see that learning on display. Activities include student performances and exhibits featuring transportation-themed writing and artwork.

The highlight of the day is the Parade of Transportation. With support from their families, students create and wear handmade cardboard vehicles, ranging from cars and trucks to buses and helicopters. The parade winds through campus, including a stop at a student-favorite “carwash."

The tradition highlights the hands-on learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to creativity and real-world concepts.

With the Martin County School District being around for 10 years, events like Transportation Day showcase the unique traditions found across its schools. Enrollment for the upcoming school year is open. Be part of the tradition of excellence today: https://bit.ly/3Z1Ny6E
