SFHS students win ACE competition

Students from South Fork High School recently earned first place in the regional ACE (Architecture, Construction, Engineering) competition, competing against teams from schools across Palm Beach County.

The winning team—Mia Howell, John Jackson, Ludz Succes, Eden Gomez, Peyton Dembiec, and Rosaria Antonio Diego—captured top honors for their project, The Astra Peak Planetarium and Observatory. The concept showcased the students’ creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills through the design of a hypothetical facility focused on science, exploration, and community engagement.

The ACE Mentorship Program introduces high school students to career pathways in architecture, construction, engineering, and related industries through hands-on learning experiences and mentorship from local professionals. Throughout the program, students work alongside industry leaders to develop project concepts, explore design and engineering challenges, and gain exposure to real-world applications used in the field.

South Fork students were mentored by professionals from Morganti and worked closely with Physics Teacher Mark Turull, who has helped integrate the ACE program into classroom learning. The long-running partnership has provided students with opportunities to strengthen technical skills while learning directly from professionals in the industry.

The event also included participation from community and district leaders, including School Board Member Christia Li Roberts, who served as a judge.

The District is grateful to the mentors, educators, and community partners who continue investing in opportunities that help students explore future careers while applying their learning in meaningful ways.

The Martin County School District congratulates the Bulldogs on this outstanding accomplishment and for representing their school community with excellence.
