Students at Port Salerno Elementary School heard from someone who once sat in the same classrooms and dreamed about what the future could hold.
Former Stingray Andy Gribben and Martin County High School Class of 2026 graduate returned to his elementary alma mater to share lessons about goal setting, perseverance and believing in yourself. Gribben committed to playing professional soccer with Walton & Hersham FC in England at just 15 years old.
School leaders say opportunities like this bring AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) principles to life, helping students connect what they learn in the classroom to future college and career pathways while hearing firsthand stories of perseverance and success.
By sharing both his accomplishments and the challenges he faced along the way, Gribben encouraged students to stay focused on their goals and embrace the mistakes as part of the learning process.
His visit served as a reminder that college and career readiness begin long before graduation, helping students see what’s possible when hard work and determination meet opportunity.
