During its meeting on June 16, the Martin County School Board approved Superintendent Michael Maine's district reorganization plan and leadership recommendations for the 2026-2027 school year, advancing a broader effort to strengthen operational efficiency, preserve school-based support, and position the District for continued success.
The plan includes organizational realignment, enrollment-based staffing adjustments, and targeted reductions in vacant and district-level positions. Together, these changes are projected to generate approximately $3.9 million in net savings while helping ensure resources remain focused on students, classrooms, and schools.
"The strength of our District is built on our ability to adapt, improve, and remain focused on what matters most: our students," Superintendent Michael Maine said. "This reorganization reflects careful consideration of our enrollment, our operational needs, and our commitment to supporting schools. We have worked intentionally to ensure resources are aligned to student needs while maintaining the high level of service our families, employees, and community expect. These changes position us to continue building on the progress we have already made together."
A key component of the plan involved reviewing District Office operations and leadership structures to ensure resources remain as close to schools and classrooms as possible while continuing to provide strong support across the organization.
The following leadership changes, approved as part of the reorganization, will take effect July 1, 2026:
Dr. Paige McMahon, current Coordinator of Curriculum and Instruction, will become Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Heather Platt, current Director of Professional Learning, will become Director of Organizational Excellence and Strategic Alignment.
Dan Moore, current Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, will become Executive Director of Academic Services.
Jim Lilli, who was approved by the School Board in May, will serve as Executive Director of Operations and Infrastructure, a position created through the reorganization. Jim joins the District after serving as Facilities Superintendent for Martin County. He has decades of experience in project management, procurement and capital maintenance.
Dr. Megan Hatfield will serve as Director of Student Services, following the retirement of longtime District leader Deb Riley. Dr. Hatfield joins the District after recently serving as the Assistant Principal of East Lake High School. Prior to that, she was the Senior Coordinator of Strategic Planning and Policy for Pinellas County Schools. She holds a Doctor of Education in School Leadership from Saint Leo University, a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from Marist College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Adolescence Education from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
