The Martin County School District is proud to share that students in Martin County High School's welding program have earned statewide recognition for their craftsmanship, technical skill, and creativity, receiving top honors in the Florida Department of Education's Statewide Welding & Fabrication Challenge.
The competition, held in celebration of America's upcoming 250th anniversary, invited students from public secondary and postsecondary institutions across Florida to design and fabricate original metalwork pieces commemorating the historic milestone. Entries were judged on craftsmanship, technical execution, creativity, and overall design.
Martin County High School was named the secondary-level winner in the Technical Excellence category for its impressive fabrication of a patriotic eagle holding an American flag. The piece, which features a wingspan measuring approximately seven to eight feet, was crafted by seven Class of 2026 graduates, with guidance from their instructor, Mike Warren. The piece showcases the advanced welding and fabrication skills these students have developed through the school's Career and Technical Education program.

Martin County High School's eagle now proudly overlooks the school's baseball field from atop the press box, where it serves as a visible reminder of what students can accomplish when talent, hard work, and opportunity come together. For years to come, it will stand as a symbol of patriotism, craftsmanship, and Tiger pride.
