The Martin County School Board unanimously approved Superintendent Michael Maine’s 2025-2026 annual performance evaluation on July 21, awarding him an overall rating of “Highly Effective” with a score of 2.84 out of 3.
The annual evaluation gives the School Board the opportunity to assess the superintendent's leadership and the District's progress toward strategic goals. Using a three-point scale, the evaluation measures performance across seven leadership domains, including board support, program delivery, financial stability, human capital and talent management, community, state and public relations, professional skills and abilities, and district performance.
The evaluation highlighted strong performance across nearly every leadership area. Superintendent Maine earned scores of 2.9 or higher in five of the seven domains, including a perfect 3.0 in Professional Skills and Abilities. It also recognized continued progress in student achievement, graduation outcomes, instructional systems, data-driven decision-making, fiscal responsibility, and school safety.
“I just want to say thank you to Superintendent Maine,” School Board Chair Marsha Powers said. “You have done an excellent job this year leading the team that you have built and continue to build... I trust your judgment as you move forward, and I couldn’t be more pleased with where the school district is. I think within the 14 years I’ve been on the Board, this is the most outstanding result we’ve ever received. So, kudos to you, your team, the teachers, the students and the parents who all pour into our students so they can be successful.”

Professional Skills and Abilities- 3.0
District Performance- 2.3
