Flyer for the 9/11 Memorial Bridge Walk with event details

Twenty-five years later, Martin County will come together to honor the lives lost and the heroes who answered the call on Sept. 11, 2001.

Superintendent Michael Maine invites students and families to join the community and first responders for the 9/11 Memorial Bridge Walk. Students who attend must pick up a wristband from the Martin County Police Athletic League tent and present it at school later that day to receive an excused tardy. Students who need transportation must be accompanied by an adult.

The opening ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 11 at Jock Leighton Park in Palm City. The three-mile walk across the Veterans Memorial Bridge and back will begin around 9 a.m.

Parking will be available near the Palm City Publix and along Mapp Road, with additional parking and shuttle service at Sailfish Splash Waterpark. Participants should bring water and wear comfortable walking shoes.

The event is presented in partnership with Martin County Fire Rescue, the Martin County Sheriffโ€™s Office, Martin County government, the Martin County Police Athletic League, and Martin County Professional Firefighters.

Join us as we walk side by side to honor, remember, and ensure Martin County never forgets.
