Students in the Martin County School District are starting the 2026–2027 school year with a clean plate, thanks to a generous donation from the School Lunch Fairy.
The 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded by two students in Wellington, Florida, donated $3,000 to help offset outstanding student meal charges in the District. The donation covers unpaid meal charges accumulated from the end of the 2025–2026 school year through the beginning of the new school year.
School meal programs play an important role in supporting students’ health, well-being and readiness to learn. By helping reduce these outstanding charges, the School Lunch Fairy is helping ensure families can begin the new school year without the burden of last year’s meal debt.
The District never turns students away from receiving a meal because of an inability to pay. Students without sufficient funds in their meal accounts continue to receive a nutritious school meal. However, the cost of providing meals that are not eligible for reimbursement through the National School Lunch Program can add up quickly.
The District appreciates the School Lunch Fairy for its continued commitment to supporting students and families.
