Martin County High School students are taking their Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) training beyond the classroom and getting a firsthand look at where those skills could take them.
Students in the school's EMR program recently visited Martin County Fire Rescue Station 23 for an open house ahead of their upcoming ride-alongs. Seniors explored rescue vehicles and equipment, learned about daily station operations, and heard directly from first responders about what to expect in the field.
Now in its second year, the EMR program combines hands-on training with real-world experiences through a partnership with Martin County Fire Rescue. The program gives students early exposure to careers in emergency services and health care while building skills they can carry into their next steps after graduation.
