Academic Team Champions

The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) has announced its Overall Academic Team Champions of the 2021-2022 season. Jensen Beach, Martin County and South Fork high schools each earned a top-ten finish in their respective classes, with Jensen Beach High School earning first place in the state for Class 5A and South Fork High School earning second place in the state for Class 6A.  Martin County High School earned sixth place overall in Class 6A.

The FHSAA Academic Team Champion recognition program honors teamwork not only in competition but also in the classroom. The program recognizes teams in each of the FHSAA’s sanctioned and recognized sports, naming an Academic Team Champion in each classification. To qualify, a school’s individual sports team must have a grade point average of at least a 3.0 on an unweighted 4.0 scale. The teams’ grade point averages are then compared to all other schools in the state with similar enrollment sizes.

"Our student-athletes continued to demonstrate their dedication to excellence by being named among the state's top academic performers in their respective classes," Superintendent John D. Millay shared. "This unprecedented accomplishment is reflective of their commitment to setting themselves apart not only on the court or playing field but also in the classroom."
