The Martin County School District and the Martin County Education Association (MCEA) have successfully completed labor negotiations for the 2022-2023 school year.
"I am grateful for the commitment to collaboration displayed by our School Board, District team and the MCEA bargaining unit team throughout the negotiations process," said Dr. John D. Millay, Superintendent of Schools. "These agreements will allow us to continue prioritizing student achievement, as well as the recruitment and retention of dedicated, highly-qualified educators.”
The following tentative agreements* will be presented to the Martin County School Board for ratification in February:
- The starting, base annual salary for newly-hired teachers will increase to $48,700.*
- This is the highest starting teacher salary on the Treasure Coast.
- This is the highest starting teacher salary on the Treasure Coast.
- Instructional staff assigned to Indiantown Middle School and Warfield Elementary School shall have their salaries adjusted to reflect a $3,100 Western Zone Supplement for the duration of their assignment at either school. *
- Performance Pay for 2022-2023 school year will be issued as follows*:

In addition to these agreements, teachers will continue to receive salary stipends from funds generated by the half-mill property tax increase that was first approved by Martin County voters in August 2018 and renewed in August 2022. Stipend awards for the 2022-2023 school year range from $1,800 to $10,050 and are based on educators’ years of instructional experience. Martin County educators are also eligible for supplements for holding advanced degrees and stipends for their involvement in additional programs, such as coaching sports teams or sponsoring clubs.
