Rotary Club

Members of our local Rotary Club had a special surprise for our 3rd and 4th graders today: each student received a personal copy of A Student's Dictionary. These books are provided to local children as part of the club's national Dictionary Program to promote literacy. According to the Rotary Club website, this initiative began in 2005 to promote writing and reading skills and to help students become creative thinkers and resourceful learners.

The dictionaries were an instant hit with our students, who enjoyed searching for the longest word, multiplication chart, Braille alphabet, and US Constitution. They also learned how to use ABC-order strategies to find words more efficiently. Many smiles and shouts of 'Thank you!' filled the assembly - a sure sign that this program was successful. Thank you, Rotary Club, for your dedication to the education of our students!
