Odyssey of the Mind challenges students to solve complex, long-term problems through engineering, performance, technical design, and teamwork. Students must develop original solutions, manage budgets, meet strict guidelines, and present before judges.

“It’s inspiring to see how Odyssey of the Mind continues to expand across our schools,” Superintendent Michael Maine said. “With high school teams competing for the first time and advancing to state, we are seeing the full impact of investing in creativity and problem-solving at every level. Our students continue to raise the bar.”

In addition to the team accomplishments, first-year Martin County High School coach Jai Matthews was honored with the prestigious OMER’s Award, which recognizes individuals who exemplify outstanding creativity, leadership, and dedication. Judges and fellow coaches highlighted the trust she built within her team and the pride and enthusiasm she consistently demonstrates in supporting her students’ work.

Odyssey of the Mind challenges students to solve complex problems through performance, engineering, and teamwork—all skills that reflect the District’s commitment to academic excellence and real-world learning.

As the six advancing teams prepare for the state tournament on April 4 in Orlando, the Martin County School District celebrates not only their success, but the innovation, perseverance, and excellence demonstrated by every student who competed in the regional competition.
