Summer Break and grades

Summer reading starts now! 📚☀️

Reading logs went home with students this week. Students can track their reading between July 29th and August 9th for a chance to earn prizes!

Any student who completes their log and passes 30 AR quizzes on MCSD Reads will receive a special reward. Logs can be turned in to Mrs. Bowser during the first week of school.

Plus, the district will recognize the TOP AR point earner in each grade level!

Keep those pages turning! Happy reading, Panthers!

Summer Reading
Summer Reading
Three of our most avid readers — Miya, Piper, and Aurora — kicked off summer in the sweetest way!

These girls celebrated with an ice cream sundae after reading and passing quizzes on 5 or more of the 25-26 Sunshine State Reader books! They also each received 2 newly released books from the 26-27 SSYRA list to keep the reading fun going all summer long.

Students can earn brag tags for every SSYRA quiz they pass, and readers who complete 5 or more of the 15 titles each year are invited to our ice cream social celebration!

Here’s the new 26-27 Sunshine State Reader list if your student wants to join the fun and start reading ahead this summer!

Summer Break is almost here
Hello Pinewood Family,
We had such a wonderful evening yesterday listening to our Performing Panthers sing and perform, along with our talented second graders drumming to Taylor Swift! It is always a gift to spend time together as a school family.
As we wrap up the year, I am incredibly proud to share that Pinewood made tremendous growth this year. Our students, staff, and families have worked so hard, and you are all just a few days away from a well-deserved summer break!
Here’s what’s happening at Pinewood this week:

5/25 – No School (Memorial Day)

Thank you for your continued support and for being such an important part of our “One of a Kind” Pinewood community. Let’s finish strong!

Hola familia Pinewood,

Today was a special day at The PWE!

We welcomed back our former PWE Panthers… but this time, they walked our halls as graduating seniors. Seeing them return to where their educational journey first began was such a joy and a reminder of just how far they’ve come.

The halls were filled with proud sisters, brothers, cousins, parents, teachers, and smiles all around as we celebrated their success.

Once a Panther, always a Panther!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Education Foundation of Martin County, our media center recently received a significant collection of WonderBooks.

Mrs. Towell’s kindergarten class got to be the very first to try them out!

As you can see, their excitement was through the roof! From big smiles to eager little hands flipping pages, these books were an instant hit.

We are especially excited to add so many engaging nonfiction titles to our collection and help spark even more curiosity and learning for our students!

WonderBooks are print books with a built-in audiobook. They allow students to listen and read along at the same time, making reading even more interactive and accessible for all learners.

Hey Panthers! Quick reminder that ALL PWE library books are due by Friday, May 15th!
Take a minute tonight to check backpacks, desks, cars, under the bed… even that random pile in your room.
This is especially important for our 5th graders heading to new schools. Any lost books will turn into fines that follow you next year.
Teachers have a list of everything still checked out, so let’s track those books down and get them back to the library!

Can we talk about our Principal for the Day… because he might not be giving the job back.
Shoutout to kindergartener Michael Harper, who earned the title as one of our TOP 10 Walk-a-Thon money earners this year.
He absolutely RAN Pinewood today! Answering phone calls like a pro, handing out awards at our AVID celebration, and keeping a close eye on all the school happenings like he’s been doing this for years.
And the outfit? A space themed tie! Of course our principal came dressed for the job.
The best part? The confidence. The charisma. The “I was made for this” energy. Honestly, it’s like he’s been training for this role his whole life.
Safe to say… the future is in good hands! Thank you Principal Harper!

We’re so excited to announce our 2026–2027 Teacher of the Year - Mr. Rick Acosta!!
If you’ve ever stepped into his classroom, you already know it's not your typical science class. From hands-on experiments to lessons that actually make you think and ask questions, Mr. Acosta brings science to life in a way students never forget. He works with every grade from Kindergarten through 5th, and somehow makes each lesson just as engaging, fun, and meaningful no matter the age.
He doesn’t just teach science, he sparks curiosity and creativity in every student.
We are so lucky to have him at THE Pinewood Elementary!
