Students in Mrs. India-Hurrell's class were putting their math minds to work as they explored repeated addition, arrays, and odd & even numbers!
Using the mild, medium, and spicy questions from our pacing calendar, students worked together to write, draw, and explain how they solved each problem.
Everyone took a turn sharing ideas, writing, drawing, and explaining their thinking. The collaboration was amazing!
We love seeing our Panthers learning from one another, talking through their strategies, and building confidence as mathematicians!

Friday was packed with learning, growing, and a whole lot of brain power!
We kicked off STEM class with a Building Thinking Class activity, where students tackled subtracting decimals and regrouping like true math superheroes.
Next, our young botanists checked their germinating sunflowers and recorded their observations. Exciting news: many of our sunflower babies have officially reached the seedling stage! They're growing up so fast, and we can’t wait to move them into soil. Someone cue the proud plant-parent tears!
Meanwhile, our amazing 5th grade STEM students wowed us with presentations of their Amazing Organs Projects. Their creativity, research, and presentation skills were truly heart-stopping... and lung-expanding... and mind-blowing!
To wrap up our STEM-filled day, we explored the fascinating life cycle of conifers. From tiny seeds to mighty evergreens, we learned that great things start small... just like our sunflowers and our future scientists!
Today's STEM takeaway: Whether you're solving decimals, growing plants, studying trees, or presenting organs, learning is always in full bloom!

Constitution Week officially begins on September 17, but Martin County School District students are already getting a head start!
Further highlighting the importance of this annual observance, the Martin County School Board approved the 2026 Constitution Week Proclamation at Tuesday night's meeting, developed with Ms. Rae Scimeca and the Halpatiokee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
As we recognize the 239th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution, students across the District will spend the week learning about the document that continues to shape our nation and protect our freedoms.

The day celebrates Dolly Parton’s remarkable contributions to children and literacy, along with the impact of programs like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in helping young readers build a lifelong love of books.
We’re proud to celebrate alongside the Children’s Services Council of Martin County and The Library Foundation of Martin County as we encourage our school community to read, dream and grow together.

Another Panther has joined the MCSD Reads 25 Point Club!
Congratulations to Ryliana for earning 25 AR points and a trip to the EFMC Book Vending Machine!
Ryliana is a big fan of Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and just like Belle, she has a love for books and reading! So it was only fitting that she spotted Beauty and the Beast: Lost in a Book by Jennifer Donnelly in the vending machine. Talk about the perfect find!

This week, students kicked off their germination investigation by setting up their science notebooks and creating a nice, damp bed for two sunflower seeds.
They then hung their bags outside and are hoping for some sunny days ahead!
Now comes the exciting part—observing, recording, and watching for changes as their tiny seeds begin to sprout and grow.
We can’t wait to see their sunflower investigation come to life!
Pinewood Panthers, we need your help!
Our 2nd Annual Staff Trunk or Treat is coming up on Friday, October 23rd from 5:15–6:00 PM, and we’re getting ready for a night full of Halloween fun!
To help make the event extra sweet for our students, we are collecting individually wrapped candy or monetary donations to purchase additional treats and supplies. Donations can be sent in with your student or dropped off at the front office.
And don’t head home after Trunk or Treat. - stick around for PTA Bingo from 6:00–7:30 PM!

The final tally is in!
The EFMC All for One, One for All Back-to-School Reading Challenge was an amazing way to kick off the school year! The goal was simple: every student in the class earn at least 1 AR point. When the entire class reached the goal, everyone earned a trip to the Book Vending Machine to choose a book of their very own!
We are excited to share that 18 classes completed the challenge, which means a total of 358 books were placed into the hands of our students thanks to the Education Foundation of Martin County!
We loved watching classmates encourage one another, celebrate each new class that reached the goal, and—most importantly—READ!
What a great way to start the year by building excitement around books and reading together. Congratulations to all 18 classes who conquered the challenge!
